A public participation program
that includes this website and a series of public meetings will
be conducted as part of the Route 1 Transportation Improvement
Project. Two public meetings will be conducted as part of the
Environmental Assessment / Environmental Impact Report (EA/EIR)
stage and additional meetings will be conducted during the design
of the project. The public meetings will be held at sites in
communities affected by the project.
Public meetings are developed
to inform the public about the various elements of the project
and solicit comments on issues that need to be addressed by
the project. The first public meeting on November 30, 2005 at
the Saugus Town Hall. Massachusetts Department of Transportation – Highway Division held
the first meeting to discuss alternatives and obtain feedback
on those alternatives. Copies of the materials distributed at
the first public meeting are included on this website.
As subsequent public meetings
are planned during the EA/EIR and during the design stage, the
announcements will be posted on this website and information
provided at the meeting will be posted after the meeting.
The project website will also
be used to post report material for public viewing as well as
any additional information the Massachusetts Department of Transportation – Highway Division needs
to share with the public.
Public Meeting - February 28, 2008
A Public Hearing will be held
by the Massachusetts Department of Transportation – Highway Division (MassDOT) to discuss
the Environmental Assessment/Draft Environmental Impact Report
(EA/DEIR) for the proposed transportation improvements along
Route 1 in the Cities of Revere and Malden, and Town of Saugus,
Massachusetts, submitted to MEPA on February 15, 2008.
A copy of the Environmental Assessment/Draft
Environmental Impact Report will be posted on this website by
February 20, 2008.
